The Silly Season Week: Triumph Goes MXGP With Geerts And Farres

Triumph has stopped teasing. The brand's first official factory entry into the MXGP premier class for 2027 is confirmed, and the rider news arrived with it.

Guillem Farres steps up to MXGP with Triumph Factory Racing on a new three-year agreement aboard the TF 450-X. Jago Geerts has signed a three-year deal to move up as well, per the Vital MX show. Mikkel Haarup returns to the brand, and Camden McLellan stays in MX2.

That is four confirmed seats in one week from a team that did not have a 450 programme. It also kills a rumour: Vital MX states plainly that reports of Geerts heading to Kawasaki were wrong. One line, one dead claim.

Honda's side of the ledger is quieter but no less significant. The PulpMX Show reports Hunter and Jett Lawrence are close to fresh HRC deals. We grade that A. Close is not signed, and the paperwork is what we are watching.

Also from Vital MX at grade A, Romain Febvre is leaving Kawasaki. No destination attached yet, which makes it the loudest open seat on the board. The same show reports Calvin Vlaanderen is out at Ducati, with the MXGP team dropping to two riders for 2027. Vlaanderen's landing spot is already confirmed at Honda SR Motoblouz.

PulpMX adds three grade A items. Levi Kitchen stays in the 250 class despite being good enough for a 450, and the show claims he could have taken the seat vacated by Cooper Webb last year. Justin Hill and Colt Nichols are racing again with a Leatt association, and Hill expects to win races in 2027. Deacon Denno turns pro.

Elsewhere in the confirmed column: Cooper Webb has ridden his last Supercross race for Star Racing Yamaha, Jack Ellingham joins Meuwissen Motorsports, Byron Dennis takes a fill-in ride with Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM, and Ale Gaspari renews with Young Motion powered by Resa for MX2.

Denials, briefly. PulpMX shot down Lata to Star, a Ken Roczen outdoor return this season, and any American call for Jorge Zaragoza off his WSX ride.

The tally: 34 new claims, 13 confirmations, four denials, 38 rumours still live.
