The Silly Season Week: Deegan Wants Paying For Des Nations

Listen · five minutes
Also available as a podcast feed.

The Pulpmx Show reports that Haiden Deegan was approached again about racing the Motocross des Nations, and that he wanted money to go, with officials scrambling to find it. We grade that an A.

The same show says Julien Beaumer has been chosen to replace the injured Chance Hymas in the American squad. Also an A, and the more concrete half of the story.

The Team USA sideshow had one casualty. Garrett Marchbanks was floated for the seat, then reportedly ruled himself out on the basis that he has no passport and wouldn't go anyway.

Cooper Webb's move is now the most detailed claim on the board. Pulpmx reports Ridgedale was his last race with Star Racing Yamaha and that he will be on a Husqvarna next season, with the team fitting KYB inserts into the WP suspension. Grade A on both counts.

Two retirements were reported alongside it. Pulpmx has Dylan Ferrandis retiring after Ridgedale, graded A, which sits awkwardly against a confirmed line from Vital MX that Ferrandis continues with Troy Lee Designs Ducati next year. One of those has to give.

Eli Tomac's retirement is confirmed, Ridgedale his final race.

More confirmations. Calvin Vlaanderen is leaving the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP team, with MX Vice reporting the Australian GP as his farewell and the squad dropping to two riders for 2027. Malcolm Stewart is Kawasaki-bound, which rules him out of Paris under the brand's no-international-racing policy. Justin Barcia triggered an auto-renew clause with Ducati via a top-10 in Pro Motocross and turned the renewal down. Aaron Plessinger offered KTM two contract structures on a two-year deal and was refused. Dax Bennick is on factory KTM only because the final year of his deal is being honoured. Jo Shimoda moves to a Honda 450.

One firm denial: Chase Sexton was not in Europe shopping for a ride.

The ledger reads 43 new claims, 24 confirmations, two denials, 140 live rumours.

Next week needs to settle Ferrandis, retired or Ducati-bound, and tell us whether Deegan's fee was found.
